How to Use the Multi-Layer Architecture
One of the most distinctive features of Tone2 Electra X is its multi-layer architecture. This means that you can use up to four layers of synthesis and effects per patch, each with its own independent settings and parameters. This allows you to create complex and rich sounds by combining different synthesis methods and effects in various ways.
To access the layer settings, click on the layer buttons at the top of the interface. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts 1-4 to switch between layers. Each layer has its own oscillator section, filter section, effect section, envelope section, LFO section, and modulation matrix. You can also assign different MIDI channels and output routings to each layer.
To create a multi-layer sound, you can either start from scratch or use one of the many presets that come with Tone2 Electra X. You can also copy and paste settings between layers by using the right-click menu. To blend the layers together, you can adjust the volume and pan knobs for each layer in the mixer section at the bottom of the interface.
Example: How to Create a Pad Sound with Wavetable and Sample Layers
In this example, we will show you how to create a pad sound with two layers: one using wavetable synthesis and one using sample playback. Here are the steps:
Select an empty patch by clicking on the init button in the patch browser.
Click on layer 1 button and select a wavetable oscillator from the oscillator menu. You can choose any wavetable you like, but for this example we will use \"Saw Harmonics\".
Adjust the wavetable position knob to change the timbre of the oscillator. You can also modulate it with an LFO or an envelope for more variation.
Select a low-pass filter from the filter menu and adjust the cutoff and resonance knobs to shape the sound. You can also modulate them with an LFO or an envelope for more movement.
Add some reverb and delay effects from the effect menu to add some space and depth to the sound.
Click on layer 2 button and select a sample oscillator from the oscillator menu. You can choose any sample you like, but for this example we will use \"Choir Ahh\".
Adjust the pitch knob to tune the sample to your desired key. You can also adjust the start and end points of the sample by dragging the blue markers in the waveform display.
Select a high-pass filter from the filter menu and adjust the cutoff and resonance knobs to remove some low frequencies from the sample. You can also modulate them with an LFO or an envelope for more variation.
Add some chorus and phaser effects from the effect menu to add some width and movement to the sound.
Go to the mixer section and adjust the volume and pan knobs for each layer to balance them together. You can also adjust the master volume knob and add some compression or EQ effects if needed. 061ffe29dd
